For the days when I feel unloved, I found a quote from the book Worry Less So You Can Live More: Surprising, Simple Ways to Feel More Peace, Joy, and Energy by Jane Rubietta that really spoke to me. The quote is:
Here’s what I know: In the Scriptures, the couplet “unfailing love” never occurs in the context of a man’s love for a woman, a parent’s for a child, a friend’s for a friend. But always in the way God cares about us. Unfailing. Love. God is unfailing; God’s loves unfailing. God loves, unfailingly.
Sometimes I have a hard time believing that. Even though many Wednesday nights I sing “Jesus Loves Me” with my Cubbies class. We sing the song. We read about God’s love in the Bible.
In fact, the Jesus loves me is the main theme that we try to teach preschoolers about the Bible. He loves me so much that even when I sin, he doesn’t ever stop loving me.
Yet, many days I feel unloved and unworthy of love.
Many days I wonder.
Many days I question.
When my feelings fail and my doubts ensue, I can praise God that my relationship with Him is not based on my feelings. It’s based on God’s love for me and his absolute goodness. I am thankful that His love never fails.
