Get to Know Jesus is the second book that we’ve read in the “Get to Know” biography series that is being written by Nancy I. Sanders. Just like with the Apostle Paul book that we have also read, this is an easy reader biography, full of color illustrations that are very appealing to my children.
Get to Know Jesus takes a look at Jesus by showing us his place in the Bible, how his lineage stretches all the way to Adam and Eve and takes us through his life story from his birth all the way through his death and resurrection. Along the way, we learn about Jewish people, the Roman Empire, what life would have been like for Jesus and the role that Jesus plays in history.
This book has the same appealing pictures, maps, and boxes of information that is making this book series such a hit in our house. I am also really enjoying knowing that these books take the abstract ideas and stories of the Bible and show us that the Bible is a book of history and what history the people of the Bible belong too.
Again, this little book is information-packed, and will make a great reference book for our home library. I can see pulling it out as we learn more about Jesus or when we want to learn more about the history of the world where he chose to spend his earthly life.
