We’re continuing on our second week of using Heart of Dakota’s Little Hands to Heaven this week. We’re still on Unit 1 which covers creation, the fall and the letter A.
We worked on A several ways this week. Our “A-a-Adam” fingerplay emphasizes the letter A and it’s sound. We also made a fruit loop A.
We also made a large masking tape A in the floor to play with.
It was also a good week for sensory play for Owlet. She took a special snack I had made with the big kids and got very messy. (Our snack was frosting and pretzel sticks.)
We also drew little caterpillars in boxes for our counting activity for this week. Owlet didn’t even try that one, so I had some one-on-one time to work with Monkey on his counting.
They also participated in an art activity that I did with the big kids. Monkey’s working mostly with watercolor crayons, and Owlet got a little carried away with the oil pastels.
We had a new virtue that we worked on this week. We worked on gentleness, and it’s been a good one to work on with Monkey because sometimes it seems like he has no inside voice!
Both children have remembered our button art set, and they’ve been creating with it. Monkey has also been drawing Wolverine and all of the Backyardigans this week.
Monkey also drew his own Peter Rabbit, and he’s been working with dot markers again. He’s been interested in dot marker superheroes, so I’ve been scouring the internet for a printable or two for him. He’s also been working on recognizing big Y and baby y with some Star Wars dot marker sheets from 3 Dinosaurs.
I guess that’s about it for our week. The rest of it was spent playing with superhero toys, Frozen dolls and My Little Pony. Not a bad week considering that it rained most of the week!
